Description
New, Open pollinated, early, anthocyanin rich. Stands tall for easy harvest and more side shoots. Solstice produces broccoli heads 2 weeks before main season varieties. It can be re-planted mid summer for a fall crop. Blue-green heads, 3” – 5” in diameter are produced high up on the stalk for easy harvest. These primary heads followed by plenty of secondary florets Seeds started in flats late in March produce plants ready for harvest by June 21. Solstice is selected over 6 generations here at Lupine Knoll Farm from seed provided to us by the Oregon State University Horticulture Department. Plant Solstice early for the first broccoli harvest, plant a main season summer broccoli for large July heads, then plant Solstice again mid-summer for a fall crop.
