Description
Satsop is a 2016 introduction from Cultivariable. This variety brings earlier flowering, large tuber size, good yield, and somewhat milder flavor together. The tubers are large and thick, cream colored with red eyes and red blushing toward the tip. Its only negative is a tendency to crack a little in wet soils. Satsop is a good compromise for an edible ornamental, flowering a bit later than Ken Aslet, but improving on Ken’s strong flavor and poor yield. The variety was bred in Washington State.
