Description
80 days, dwarf – The rugose, regular leaf plants of ‘Dwarf Kodiak King’ are productive, very densely foliaged and grow to 36 inches tall on average. The variably shaped and sized tomatoes (blunt heart to round to oblate, 6 to 20 ounces in weight) are scarlet red, meaty, and possess an old-fashioned, balanced “red heirloom” flavor with a refreshing hint of tartness. The “Dwarf Tomato Project’s” “Grizzly” family was created by Patrina Nuske Small by crossing the old, historic dwarf variety ‘New Big Dwarf‘ with indeterminate tomato ‘Grozny ’91’. From this family, ‘Dwarf Kodiak King’’ was selected and named by Amanda Fischer. Along with Patrina and Amanda, others involved with creating this variety were Craig LeHoullier, Michael Volk, Sherry Long, Damon Huck, Bill Minkey, Mike Dunton, and John Dunton.
