Description
90 days, dwarf — The plants of ‘Dwarf Walter’s Fancy’ have attractive rugose, potato leaf, variegated foliage. They produce medium to large sized, four to twelve ounce, oblate shaped, pale yellow fruit. The fruit size, shape, flavor, and days to maturity are similar to ‘Dwarf Elsie’s Fancy‘ with the main difference being skin color. Yields are consistently high for this mid to late season dwarf variety, and the flavor is outstanding and well balanced between sweet tart and quite intense.
‘Dwarf Walter’s Fancy’, along with ‘Dwarf Elsie’s Fancy‘ and ‘Dwarf Pico’s Pride‘, are the first variegated dwarf varieties developed by the Dwarf Tomato Project and introduced by the Victory Seed Company for the 2021 gardening season. Originating from the “Acey” family, it was named by Craig LeHoullier for his grandfather, Walter Gibbs (the real inspiration behind Craig’s love of gardening). Additional contributors are Pete Adland, Tom Martucci, Susan Oliverson, Debra Kennedy, Jared Scoville, Kevin Campbell, Caitlin LeHoullier and Bill Minkey.
