Description
“””Arsia: ❧ This is the first generation progeny of Krasnodar White. It is named the southernmost volcano in the equatorial Tharsis Mountain Range. Arsia Mons stands twelve miles high two hundred seventy miles in diameter. Sumptuously sulfurous, it expresses all the characteristics of a Porcelain garlic with white wrappers sheathing reddish, long cloves. Of the first generation progeny of Krasnodar White, this was the most stable and best keeping. It is also producer of true seed and one of its offspring is available.”” Description and photo from Adaptive Seeds: “”Hardneck Porcelain type. With a sharp hot, powerful flavor, if you like strong garlic Arsia is the one for you! The aroma of a crushed clove is fresh with a character reminiscent of green garlic. While most porcelain types are nearly genetically identical, Arsia is different. A new variety by Avram Drucker of Garlicana in Tiller, Oregon. He selected Arsia from first generation true seed progeny of the garlic variety Krasnodar White. Bulbs are smaller than your average porcelain garlic but they store longer. Bulbs are white with a light purple tinge, clove wrappers are reddish and tall. Avram tells us that it produces true seed for those who want to take on the adventure of true seed garlic breeding. Stores 6-8 months with 6-8 cloves per bulb. Avram named it after Arsia Mons, one of the great volcanoes on Mars which stands 12 miles high and 270 miles wide.”””
